Multicopters
— drones with more than 4 rotors — usually 6 or 8.
This design allows you to achieve higher thrust than 4-screw (in quadrocopters), and also has a positive effect on reliability: the failure of one or even two screws does not necessarily lead to a crash (although much, of course, depends on the characteristics of a particular device). On the other hand, multicopters are noticeably more complex and more expensive than quadcopters of the same “weight category”. Therefore, such a scheme is used much less frequently — mainly in heavy high-end industrial/commercial drones (see the relevant paragraph), for which these advantages outweigh the disadvantages.
