Acer Nitro 5 AN515-52 is the representative of the entry-level gaming line from Acer. It doesn't have the overly aggressive look of a typical gaming laptop, but thanks to the monitor's cropped edges, aggressive grille and carbon edging, it's not to be confused with a regular office machine.

Performant hardware and HDD + SSD bundle

The heart of the laptop is an Intel Core i5-8300H processor with four physical cores (frequency 4 GHz) and multi-threading support. It is complemented by fast DDR4 memory of 8 GB and a pair of SSD (256 GB) and HDD (1000 GB) drives. Such a bundle is becoming familiar to good gaming laptops, as it simultaneously provides a high system boot speed and an impressive amount of memory for storing gaming distributions.

Max FPS

The discrete graphics card GeForce GTX 1050 with 4 GB of video memory is responsible for graphics processing. Paired with a Core i5-8300H and a fast SSD, this graphics card delivers a solid 30+ fps in any modern game at medium-high settings and FullHD resolution. For example, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, known for its gluttony, produces a stable 35 frames on it at Ultra settings and 4x anti-aliasing.

Sophisticated cooling system

Even with an external examination, one can note a qualitative approach to cooling. This follows from the presence of large radiator grilles in the back, as well as many ventilation holes for air flow on the bottom of the laptop. Thanks to this, the cooling system adequately handles with not the coldest components. In stress tests, the processor temperature can reach up to 80 degrees, but even in this case, the performance loss (throttling) is minimal and the frame rate remains stable.

The 15-inch Acer Nitro 5 AN515-52 display is made using IPS technology and has a Full HD resolution (1920x1080 px). The brightness level is 240 cd/m2 and the contrast ratio is 810:1. Visually, the display shows a neutral colour picture with a uniform backlight. In general, the screen is not bad, it does not pretend to be a professional level, and in a laptop of this level, this quality pleases.

Good ergonomics

A laptop with a full-sized keyboard with a numeric keypad, all keys have soft red backlighting, and the main gaming WASDs are highlighted more strongly. This helps them stand out and complements the overall design.

Margin of safety

Two speakers are hidden in the bottom of the case.
