The lineup of gaming large-format (18-inch screen) laptops by Asus has been expanded in 2023 to include the branded ROG Strix series. This series features powerful laptops in the advanced and high price segments, capable of satisfying the most demanding gamers (and other users). Typical features of this family include a characteristic design with an optical-mechanical keyboard, RGB backlighting on each key with the ability to sync lighting (Aura Sync function), and a high refresh rate display (from 165 Hz in the lower configurations).
The 18-inch screens are based on an IPS panel, can offer up to 2560x1600 pixel resolution, providing excellent color coverage and other advantages. The Asus ROG Strix G18 2023 G814JV laptops are equipped with multi-core 13th-generation Intel processors (Raptor Lake), which can be either 14-core Core i7 or even more powerful 24-core Core i9 with a clock speed of 1.6 GHz.
The graphics performance is consistently delivered by a discrete NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 card with 8 GB of video memory, while performance is boosted by DDR5 RAM with a frequency of 4800 MHz (ranging from 16 to 64 GB). Additionally, noteworthy features include capacious solid-state SSD M.2 drives (at least 1 TB and up to 4 TB), a 90 Wh battery with fast charging (up to 50% in half an hour), and an efficient cooling system with three fans and 7 heat pipes. Additional equipment perks for these laptops include Dolby Atmos audio, a Wi-Fi 6E (802.11ax) module ready to operate at a 6 GHz frequency, and a Thunderbolt v4 port.

High quality, the surface doesn't get hot (I returned another laptop for that reason), cool design; you can change the backlighting and color of each key individually (just for fun, but it's also practical). There are many different ports, unlike Apple with only 3 USB-C! There are plenty of settings and they actually work here. You can opt for turbo mode or silence - there's enough power to keep things running swiftly even in an economy mode. Powerful! Cooling system, powerful, keys FHD in 2023!? Crazy.
