Asus ROG Strix OLED XG27AQWMG 26.5 " black
![]() |
The representative of the Asus ROG Strix gaming lineup is a 26.5-inch advanced class QuadHD monitor. The main feature of the model is the use of a 10-bit fourth-generation organic diode matrix, which implements Tandem OLED technology. The new four-layer panel structure improves color reproduction quality (99.5% DCI P3 color space coverage) and brightness level (by default, up to 335 nits with the ability to peak increase to 1500 nits), while maintaining traditional advantages — impeccable contrast and wide viewing angles.
Another advantage of this technology is the increase in overall reliability: the screen's operational life is said to have increased by 60%, and the main risk — burnout of organic LEDs — has been significantly reduced. The Asus ROG Strix OLED XG27AQWMG monitor provides OLED Care Pro and Neo proximity sensor protection functions for increased durability. The sensor automatically puts the display into sleep mode and wakes it up: all you need is to set the user detection activation distance.
The gaming direction of the model is emphasized by a high refresh rate of 280 Hz, instant GtG response of 0.03 ms, and a plethora of professional technologies and options, from AMD FreeSync Premium Pro to NVIDIA G-Sync Compatible, including DisplayWidget Center settings software, dynamic Shadow Boost, FPS counter, etc. Equipment advantages include Aura Sync RGB lighting, an ergonomic stand that offers maximum screen position adjustment options, and a USB hub with a pair of Type-A ports supporting 5Gbps bandwidth.

After purchase, there were very noticeable vertical stripes (v-banding), but I believed the comments saying they'd disappear over time. Skipping straight to the result — they didn't disappear. Currently, I have 521 hours of use and 509 pixel cleans on it; the stripes have become less noticeable but are still present.
For newcomers to the topic of OLEDs — they won't give you an incredible difference in brightness compared to non-HDR mode at 100% brightness. I mistakenly didn't understand why the colors were so dull, so I turned the contrast to the maximum and then scratched my head wondering why calibration only showed 500 nits of brightness when the monitor could do 1400. What's really needed: Keep the monitor's contrast at 50-60% and enable HDR only when necessary, with the appropriate content. For the same reason, in some games, there might be situations where dark colors have a very sharp transition (contrast separates them).
There's also a nuance with bezels — if you look carefully from all sides, the monitor has additional frames, these are pixels providing the Screen Move technology, don't look for how to turn them on.
What OLED really offers: It will give you a much wider color range than any other non-OLED monitor, in other words, in a game where, say, inside a dark building you saw everything, and outside, where there's bright light, only white color because the monitor needs to compensate for the lack of colors — here you'll see both inside the building and what's outside.
