High-quality over-ear headphones with increased internal resistance and a detachable cable. Positioned as a product of the upper price category, they are one of the most affordable models in the Audeze LCD family of Hi-End devices. The main feature of the headphones are high-tech planar magnetic sound emitters with powerful N50 neodymium magnets. They provide a smooth, balanced and extremely detailed sound throughout the claimed frequency range (from 5 to 20,000 Hz).
With a relatively flat frequency response, they sound like high-end monitor headphones with ultra-low non-linear distortion. With a high impedance (70 ohms), the Audeze LCD-2 headphones are perfect for use with Hi-Fi equipment with a separate amplifier that has a balanced 4-pin XLR output. Large enveloping ear cushions evenly distribute the pressing force, without causing discomfort during prolonged listening. Despite the open design, the headphones guarantee good passive noise isolation. The body of the bowls is made of African rosewood wood, which is widely used for the manufacture of musical instruments. Thanks to a rational design, the impressive weight of 600 g is almost not felt.

Legendary magnetic planar headphones
Californian company Audeze appeared on our radars a little less than ten years ago and in such a short time managed to earn a reputation as almost the coolest and most advanced headphone manufacturer. Moreover, such epithets in their direction with the same frequency fly both from seasoned sound engineers and from seasoned music lovers who have tried more than a dozen expensive headphones. The foundation of the company's future successes became the advanced premium headphones LCD-2 with isodynamic/magnetic-planar drivers. Their driver is a thin membrane, on which a flat voice coil is applied, and all this is placed in a powerful magnetic field. Strongly exaggerating, this is something in between electrostatic and classic dynamic drivers.
Outperforms most audiophile headphones
Let's not beat around the bush and start with the sound. The high level of Audeze is felt immediately, without any preparation, the need to "warm up" the headphones or get used to them. Their main coolness lies in the ability to be cool in all aspects, be it the arrangement of instruments in space, the drawing of the bass, the transfer of the dynamics of live instruments or the nuances of vocals. Take any popular audiophile headphones, highlight their best quality, and then listen to the LCD-2. And with a probability of 99%, the model from Audeze will be either on par with them, or a little better. Seriously, they have no flaws at all. But what is most striking is their ability to deliver a huge amount of "everything" so that this "everything" is flawlessly connected to each other. Also, these are one of the few headphones that masterfully transfer the listener to a virtual room with musicians, as if you are listening to live music. There is no feeling that you are sitting in a closed box. Naturally, you need to listen to them paired with a good headphone amplifier.
Big and heavy
There are only two things that bother us about the Audeze LCD-2. First, they are big and heavy. The design is very well thought out, but holding such a 600-gram colossus on your head for a long time can be tiring. The ear pads are also huge, they completely cover the ears, which is why after a couple of hours they start to sweat, as if they were closed headphones. Otherwise, there is nothing to complain about the design - everything is assembled well and reliably, they sit comfortably on your head, they feel like pure premium. Just look at this combination of bamboo inserts and black metal. The second problem with the Audeze LCD-2 is their price, the official price of $ 1200 is not for every audiophile. But there is also good news - looking at the number of people wanting to get themselves magnetic planar headphones, Audeze engineers released a lightweight version of the Audeze LCD-1, which turned out to be lighter, more comfortable and almost three times cheaper. And most importantly, they retained almost all the nuances of the sound of the older model. Sound engineers, musicians and audiophiles are delighted once again.
