Biostar Racing X470GTQ is one of the most affordable motherboards based on X470, AMD's oldest fanless chipset (recall that the top X570 is not capable of passive cooling). It is made in a medium-sized Micro-ATX format, but at the same time it has numerous ports and connectors. So, there are four DIMM slots for RAM, DDR4 modules with a total volume of 64 GB and a frequency of 3200+ MHz are supported.

In addition, the X470 chipset supports all three generations of Ryzen processors (Zen, Zen+ and Zen 2, BIOS flashing may be required), while the X570 is only compatible with the second and third. The CPU power subsystem is seven-phase: four mosfets feed the processor cores, three more (most competitors have only two) — the memory controller and the integrated graphics accelerator, if any. Only a part of the mosfets is cooled by the radiator, which, however, is quite justified in order to save money.

Fast disks and flash drives

The M.2 slot is compatible with SATA 3 (600Mbps) and PCI-E 3.0 x4 (32Gbps) SSDs. Ultra-speed PCI-E 4.0 is not supported and this is, in fact, the only drawback of the X470 chipset compared to the X570. But the USB ports on the rear interface panel did not let us down — the fastest version 3.2 Gen 2 widely represented on the market (up to 10 Gbps). There was no place except for a compact double-sided USB Type-C, but this problem can be easily solved with a penny adapter.

In general, the Biostar Racing X470GTQ is a universal basis for building a PC for a variety of tasks: from a low-cost gaming PC on Ryzen 3200G and Vega 8 (reinforced upper VRM knee) to a professional workstation with Ryzen 2700 and higher (LLC technology). A nice bonus is Vivid LED DJ RGB lighting on the motherboard itself and 5050 connectors for connecting additional lights.
