Modular design. Certified 80 PLUS Gold. Powerful +12 V line. Long flat wires. Four graphics card connectors.

A powerful and highly efficient computer power supply unit of the ATX 12V v2.4 standard with modern circuitry and high-quality components. It is a mid-range model from the Chieftec Polaris family, released in 2019, whose products can deliver power from 550 to 1250 W. It is capable of powering a PC consuming up to 750 W. Designed for operation in a wide range of input voltages (from 100 to 240 W), making it insensitive to spontaneous fluctuations in the electrical network parameters.

The manufacturer positions it as a mid-range priced product intended for powering high-performance gaming systems with high-end/upper-mid-range video cards (TDP up to 350 W). It is suitable as a power source for powerful mid/high-level workstations, including AMD Ryzen Threadripper (Socket TR4) and Intel Xeon (Socket LGA3647) HEDT platforms. The high stability of the Chieftec Polaris PPS-750FC power supply unit's output voltages is ensured by its advanced circuitry (a resonant converter in the high-voltage section, synchronous rectifier, and DC/DC converters in the low-voltage section). This configuration allows delivering up to 99% of the rated power on the +12V rail, providing a current up to 62.5A. Importantly, the efficiency at 50% load reaches an impressive 92%, matching the 80 Plus Gold level. For effective cooling, a controlled 7-blade 120 mm fan is provided.

Model overview based on user reviews
The Chieftec Polaris series, including models like the PPS-650FC, PPS-750FC, and PPS-1050FC, is praised for its quiet operation, modular design, and reliability. Users appreciate its performance in challenging conditions, such as power outages, with no significant issues reported. The power supplies are noted for being worth the investment, although some users have mentioned a price increase over time. However, there are concerns about cable management and the thickness of the wires. One user reported a defective PPS-850FC unit, which did not work, suggesting a potential quality control issue. Overall, the Chieftec Polaris series is recommended for its price-quality ratio, especially if found at a reasonable price.

i've been using it for a year already and everything's great, no complaints. I got a 750W with some extra capacity, as my computer uses about 450-500W.
In Ukraine's conditions with sudden power outages, the unit didn't die++

black gold

Chieftec Polaris PPS-750FC is a computer power supply with a +12 volt line with a power of 750 watts, which equals as much as one hundred percent of the total power claimed by the manufacturer (often less than 80 – 90%). It also boasts a high efficiency of 92%, which is confirmed by the international certificate 80 PLUS Gold. And this PSU is very compact — only 14 cm in length.

Silence or coolness

The Polaris PPS-750FC is built on the High Power electronic platform, which works on the principle of DC / DC conversion. Capacitors are used as Japanese Nichicon, Rubycon and Nippon Chemi-Con, resistant to high temperatures, as well as simpler Taiwanese Teapo. It is the latter that force the PSU to turn on enhanced airflow at maximum load — the bundled 12-cm PowerYear sleeve fan accelerates to 1600 rpm. Fortunately, in a simple PC, the speed of the turntable does not exceed 700 rpm, which is almost indistinguishable by ear.

Two video cards — easy

The 24-pin motherboard power cable of the Polaris PPS-750FC is covered with a nylon braid, while the rest of the wires are made in the form of a flat, easily bending noodle. All this contributes to discreet installation inside the PC case and neat cable management. The length of the often short 4 + 4-pin processor cable this time is more than sufficient 65 cm. There are four 6 + 2-pin graphics card connectors, which, coupled with a powerful + 12-volt line, allows you to power a SLI or CrossFire bundle from two flagship video cards . All cables are easily removable, meaning the PSU is fully modular.

Protection for the whole PC

All mandatory types of electrical protection are implemented in the Chieftec Polaris PPS-750FC: OCP against overcurrent, OPP against overload by total power on all channels, OTP against overheating, OVP against overvoltage, SCP against short circuit, SIP against surges and surges, and UVP against mains voltage drop. There are also models in the Chieftec Polaris line with less power and a cheaper price: and for building a PC with a single graphics card.
