Smartphone and laptop work together
In 2020, Huawei introduced a new line of flagship MateBook laptops to our market. The main star of the show was the MateBook X Pro laptop, which received rave reviews in the Western press thanks to its chic touch screen, powerful hardware and the Huawei Share feature. There is an NFC tag hidden in the laptop case to which you need to bring your smartphone. After the connection, a window with a smartphone interface will appear on the right side of the laptop screen, with which you can interact as you like: broadcast the screen, manage applications, scroll through telegram chats, and even exchange files directly. For example, you can drop a photo from your smartphone gallery directly onto a slide in Power Point. We don’t know how useful Huawei Share will be in everyday use, but we can’t help but note the quality of the implementation. There were no lags or breaks during the tests.
Top touch LTPS display
The MateBook X Pro 2020 is a sleek and sophisticated laptop with minimal body markings, a matching lid with a base and a matte finish under the keyboard, and body dimensions and thickness that are more like 13-inch than 14-inch models. Considering that this is a flagship product, it is not surprising that the materials are pleasant to the touch, the body is built to five, and the laptop lid can be opened with one hand. At first, the hinge gives in easily, but the higher the screen rises, the stronger the fixation becomes. Opening the MateBook X Pro, the user sees a 13.9-inch LTPS display (3:2 aspect ratio, 3000x2000 resolution), which is covered with a protective glass with an excellent oleophobic coating. Such things are more common to see in smartphones for $1000. The LTPS matrix is made on the basis of low-temperature polycrystalline silicon and, in comparison with conventional IPS screens, it has higher pixels with lower power consumption. The matrix provides a colour gamut of just over 100% sRGB, with a colour temperature of 6000K and a reference gamma curve, so it is well suited for working with visual content. But the practicality of the touch panel is a debatable issue. Especially when you consider that Win 10 is still sharpened for mouse control, and there is a convenient touchpad at hand.
Performant hardware
Otherwise, this is a flagship laptop with full mincemeat and a biting price tag. The heart of the laptop is the new high-performance Core i7 processor, which demonstrates excellent performance and generates minimal heat. It is complemented by 16 GB of RAM, a fast 1024 GB NVMe SSD and a GeForce MX250 graphics card. However, the success of a laptop is determined not only by its hardware, and here we have complete order. The MateBook X Pro is equipped with modern USB-C ports with Power Delivery and Alternate Mode, a fingerprint scanner in the power button, an excellent touchpad, a high-quality stereo system with four speakers and fast charging. At the same time, he is not perfect. You need to get used to the non-standard resolution of its display, the keyboard lacks feedback, and for some reason the webcam was built into the keyboard block between the F6 and F7 keys.
