A strong middle-level smartphone is the “stepson” of the flagship Huawei P40 family. This is one of the first swallows of the Chinese brand in the east european market without the usual Google services. Instead of the Google Market, the smartphone uses the AppGallery application store out of the box, and the mobile device also carries a package of pre-installed Huawei Mobile Services on board.
The device runs on Android 10 with the EMUI 10 shell rolled on top. The front panel of Huawei P40 Lite is provided with a 6.4-inch diagonal IPS screen with an integrated 16 MP selfie camera (located in the upper left lobe of the display). For the speed of the smartphone, the answer is a spark of a homegrown Kirin 810 chipset and 6/128 GB of memory. Expanding the capacity of the internal drive can be "cranked" using miniature memory cards of the NMCard format.
From the rear, on the gradient back of the smartphone, there is a quad camera that combines under the wing image sensors of 48 MP (leading), 8 MP (ultra-wide with a focal length of 16 mm), 2 MP (for macro photography) and 2 MP (depth sensor for background blur). The model received an NFC chip (only in JNY-L21A, JNY-L01A, JNY-L21B modifications). Power for the electronic components of the device is supplied from a 4200 mAh rechargeable battery with support for the quick “tank refilling” function using Huawei Power Up technology (up to 70% in half an hour at the outlet).

distant relative
An unusual fact: usually light versions of flagships come out a little later. But Huawei P40 Lite went on the market before his older brother. This is interesting in itself, and also in the sense that in fact the P40 Lite is actually the twin brother of the Nova 6 SE, which was released in China at the end of 2019. The name P40 Lite was decided to be used in the European market, where it is well recognized. And, let's say right away, it has little in common with the original Huawei P40, which is an original thoroughbred kamefon.
Sturdy mid-range smartphone
The P40 Lite is a solid mid-range smartphone with a quality quad camera, a nice 6.4-inch IPS display with FullHD+ resolution, an octa-core Kirin 810 processor, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. In general, the shell and any heavy applications or games do not create any difficulties for the smartphone. Formally, it is possible to insert a memory card, but this is a proprietary Nano Memory, which is not sold in Ukraine. From a purely visual point of view, the smartphone is good: neat, not too catchy and without obvious borrowings. Thanks to the square camera block, you can catch the resemblance to the Mate 20 Pro and the iPhone 11 and, in fact, the P40 Pro. The back cover is plastic, although it looks like glass, and it does not feel cheap. Despite the use of plastic, the smartphone looks and feels quite decent and modern. Assembled well, and the dimensions are quite adequate
Camera with 4 modules
The star of this show is the camera, which received 4 modules at once: 48 MP main with f / 1.8 aperture, and 8 MP ultra-wide, f / 2.4. The remaining 2 cameras are 2 MP each, one for macro shooting, the second is a depth sensor. During the day in sunny weather, the pictures are quite high-quality and clear, with natural colours and a minimum amount of noise. The dynamic range in normal mode is wide enough not to include HDR. At night or in a room with a lack of light, the detailing is expected to drop, but the noise reduction saves the situation somewhat. In general, by the standards of the segment up to $300, the camera is quite good for itself, but comparisons with the Huawei P40 do not paint it at all.
No Google services
The smartphone uses a fresh proprietary shell EMUI 10, it is based on Android 10.0 (AOSP + HMS). That is, there are no Google services. Instead, they use the AppGallery branded application store, and a pack of applications that replace Google services has already been sewn into memory. And this is an elephant in a small room, which is impossible not to notice. Firstly, the choice of applications in the AppGallery is much poorer than in the Google Play Market. The heart aches even more from the fact that there is no native YouTube and Google Maps here. For them, you will have to look for Apk on third-party sites like APKPure. And this is an amateur activity.
