The successor to the flagship series of Mate devices from the Chinese brand Huawei towers over two versions of the tenth generation smartphone: a simplified Lite and a basic modification of the Mate 10.
Frameless style
The device with the prefix Pro in the name is equipped with a 6-inch OLED display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. Following modern trends, they tried to make the frames around the screen minimal, so that the smartphone does not feel like a big “shovel”. It is comparable in size, for example, to the Apple iPhone 8 Plus, but the gain from the “apple” gadget along the diagonal of the display is as much as half an inch.
Artificial intelligence
The most interesting is hidden inside the body of the smartphone, which combines elements of metal and glass. The heart of Huawei Mate 10 Pro is a powerful HiSilicon Kirin 970 chip with a dedicated module for neural networks — the model implements the principle of machine learning. Artificial intelligence is mainly involved in the operation of the device's camera — a dual main photomodule (12 MP colour sensor in conjunction with a 20 MP monochrome matrix) and a front camera with a resolution of 8 MP.
Fast optics
Leica's main camera optics boast an outstanding f/1.6 maximum aperture. In the daytime, shooting at an open aperture allows you to effectively blur the background behind the model, and in the evening it helps to obtain a better result in low light conditions. Photos are also brought to an acceptable form with the help of the above-mentioned neural networks, which recognize the subject of shooting, automatically adjust the settings and form a catalog of footage with a breakdown of photographs by genre (landscape, animals, etc.).
Competition
Out of the box, the smartphone runs on Android Oreo (version 8 of the most popular mobile operating system). For the sake of water protection according to the IP67 standard, the device lost its 3.5mm audio jack, and there was no space for a memory card slot on its board. You should not be especially sad about these reasons, because otherwise the model is not inferior to the flagships from A-brands, making them worthy competition in terms of characteristics and keeping up with them in terms of cost.
