Kingston expands
By announcing the new A2000 SSD at CES 2019, Kingston has generated some serious buzz among potential buyers. And all because the eminent brand promised to shake up the market for solid state drives by releasing a high-speed NVMe at the price of a regular SATA SSD. Looking ahead, we note that in the end the price turned out to be slightly higher than promised, but this is still one of the most affordable SSDs on the market, which is capable of providing a read speed of 2000 MB / s. Agree, against the background of 500 MB / s of a standard SSD, this figure is impressive.
Middle class
Another thing is that memory manufacturers sometimes disagree with words and deeds, and potentially successful models turn out to be either much slower, or without SLC caching, or with a frankly low-cost controller. Fortunately, the Kingston A2000 did not disappoint: it is not a champion in terms of linear read and write speed, but it has proven itself well for entry-level and mid-level computers.
Warranty 5 years
The Silicon Motion SM2263ENG controller used is excellent for consumer SSD use cases, as evidenced by excellent PCMark results, which even slightly exceeded the claimed passport specifications and an acceptable level of performance when working with small files. The used 3D TLC NAND memory received a high guaranteed operating life of 150 TB, which backs up the 5-year warranty from the manufacturer. Plus, the drive has a one-sided layout of elements and is not prone to overheating during intensive work.
