Kingston SA400S37/480G

Incredible speeds and uncompromising reliability.Kingston A400 solid-state drives dramatically improve the responsiveness of... moreyour existing system with incredible boot, load and transfer speeds compared to mechanical hard drives.Equipped with the most advanced controller that allows it to achieve read and write speeds of up to 500 MB/s and 450 MB/s, this SSD is ten times faster than a conventional hard drive, allowing it to offer greater performance, enhance multitasking and speed up system operation. In addition to being more reliable and durable than a hard drive, the A400 incorporates Flash memory. It does not include moving parts, so the probability of breakdown is lower than that of a mechanical unit.On the other hand, the absence of these parts allows for quieter operation without temperature buildup.Their resistance to shakes and vibrations makes them ideal for laptops and other mobile computing devices.A400 drives come in multiple dimensions and capacities, from 120 GB to 1.92 TB, to give you all the space you need for applications, videos, photos and other important files.Plus, you can replace your hard drive or smaller SSD with a drive large enough to hold all your files. This SSD is designed for typical laptop and desktop workloads. Not intended for server environments.Based on ´´out-of-the-box´´ performance with a SATA Rev.3.0 motherboard.Speed may vary due to hardware, software, and host computer usage. Some of the specified capacity on a Flash storage device is used for formatting and other functions and is therefore not available for data storage. For this reason, the actual data storage capacity is less than that indicated on the products.Specifications:-SSD disk form factor:2.5´´.-SSD:480 GB.-Interface:Serial ATA III.-Memory type:TLC.-Component for:PC/Laptop.-Reading speed:500 MB/s.-Writing speed:450 MB/s.-Average time between failures:1000000 h.-Data transfer speed:6 Gbit/s.-Protective functions:Shock resistant, Vibration resistant.-Width:100 mm.-Depth:69.9 mm.-Height:7 mm.-Weight:41 g.-Power consumption (write):1.535 W.-Power consumption (average):0.279 W.-Power consumption (standby):0.195 W.-Power consumption (max):0.642 W.-Operating temperature range:0 -70°C.-Storage temperature range:-40 -85 °C.-Operational vibration:2.17 G.-Non-operational vibration:20 G.-Packaging type:Blister.-Product color:Black.

Probably the best budget SSD
28 October 2020
I bought 2 units of 120 GB each for different machines to see what SSD is all about. The result exceeded all expectations. The game for which the SSD was purchased runs smoothly (there were constant lags and crashes on HDD), rebooting Windows takes 10-15 seconds.
Price Speed (matches the stated) Reliability (doesn't decrease over a year of active use)
Not available, especially at that price.

good model, like it
28 February 2023
I've been using this SSD for over three years. It was in a PC for a year and in a laptop for the last two years. Everything works perfectly. Reading negative reviews surprises me. Yes, defects happen, no one is immune from that. But reasonable people go to the store and exchange the item, instead of immediately rushing to hate.
For your price, maybe, the best you can get

One of the cheapest SSDs on the market

The Kingston A400 is one of the cheapest SSDs you can find on the market. Naturally, this fact left an imprint on the production of the drive and a potential buyer will have to come to terms with some nuances in the work.

Full compatibility with MacBook

Unlike its predecessor, the UV400 drive, the updated A400 uses a Phison PS3111-S11 instead of a Marvell controller. On the one hand, this gave full compatibility with Apple laptops. On the other hand, due to the limited cache (only 32 MB), the A400 can simultaneously process fewer small files than its competitors. The record IOPS indicator is only 35K, against the standard 50 – 60K. And the SLC array of the A400, like other SSDs on the Phison S11, is limited to 8 GB, so when copying large files like 1080p movies and game images, the speed will sag from the claimed 450 MB / s to 140 – 150 MB / s. The reading speed is consistently high, which is kept at a consistently high rate of 500 MB / s.

For undemanding users

Given all of the above, first of all, we would recommend this model for undemanding users who want to get the basic benefits of switching from HDD to SSD: low file access time, high speed of loading programs and the operating system. If the system requirements are high, then it would be better to pay extra for the conditional Samsung Evo 860.
