The Klipsch RP-500M speaker system will suit those who cannot afford floorstanding speakers, but are not ready to settle for a smaller and brighter sound.

Stylish design that looks "expensive"

American designers did a great job, both on the functional part and on the appearance of the system. Two speakers measuring 34x17x24 cm and weighing 5.4 kg each are enclosed in damped MDF cabinets with a durable, damage-resistant laminated finish.

The front panel is slightly slanted, which makes it feel like the speaker is tilted back. The system is available in two colours — walnut and ebony, each of which will find its place in the interior. Grill can be mounted on small magnets. It not only gives the speakers a more rigorous look, but also protects from dust and dirt.

Improved Design

The original design of the cabinets affected not only their appearance, but also the sound. A 25 mm titanium tweeter is housed in a signature Tractrix horn at the top of the cabinet with a narrow neck and uniform horizontal and vertical turns. Due to the use of casting, the horn turned out to be very smooth, phase distortion is noticeably lower, and the speaker itself began to look less aggressive. Under the horn is a 133 mm mid/bass driver with a smooth copper-coated Cerametallic cone.

Sound 9 out of 10

For better bass sound, a bass-reflex port is provided on the rear wall of the cabinet, also made using proprietary Tractrix technology. Thanks to him, low frequencies sound even and soft, even if the speaker is close to the wall. Under the port there is a pair of screw terminals for connection.

Based on many years of practice, the Klipsch RP-500M performs well both in a home theater system and simply paired with a subwoofer, and thanks to its high sensitivity of 93 dB , it does not impose high requirements on the output power of the amplifier (peak 300 W).

But the most important feature of the system is its sound. It turned out to be clear and focused, without any "embellishments". It is unlikely that in such a form factor and for such money (about $500) you will find something more worthy.
