Lenovo Ideapad 520 15 is a full-fledged representative of the middle class of devices. It has a minimalistic design that is more suitable for an office, while at the same time offering good performance.
Design
The case, except for the lower part, is made of metal. Assembled with high quality — no backlash, and the lid and the space for the hands sag only with a slight effort. The top cover, if not wiped in time, tends to collect fingerprints.
The keyboard is full-sized with a smooth and distinct stroke, and the backlighting of the keys allows you to work in pitch darkness. The power button, although located on the keyboard, has software protection against accidental presses, as well as a more rigid mechanism. It is quite comfortable to work with the trackpad, a good oleophobic coating and support for Windows 10 gestures — everything you need for comfortable and performant work.
Iron
It is equipped with an Intel Core i3 7100U processor of the Kaby Lake generation with a clock frequency of 2.4 GHz. The discrete graphics card NVIDIA GeForce 940MX with 2 GB GDDR5 video memory is responsible for the graphics component. The amount of RAM is 4 GB of DDR4 type and can be expanded up to 20 GB, and the drive is a 1 TB HDD.
Audio system
A nice feature is the sound, the laptop is equipped with a Harman audio system. Sounds good enough for a laptop in this price range — clear and loud.
Screen
The display is a strong feature of this laptop. The matrix is made using IPS technology and has a Full HD resolution (1920x1080 pixels), which made it possible to achieve excellent viewing angles. The factory calibration is quite “correct”, and the brightness margin is enough for comfortable work on a sunny day. A distinctive feature is the opening of the lid — up to 180 degrees.
The battery can work up to 5 hours at an average load, but given its dimensions (378x260x22.9 mm) and weight of 2.2 kg, this parameter is not critical.
