Practicality and versatility

Makita HR1840 is a small and light (2.4 kg) dual-mode rotary hammer for household or semi-professional use. It has two modes of operation: drilling and drilling with impact. Therefore, it can drill brick, concrete, stone, wood, metal and plastic, combining the functions of a rotary hammer and an impact drill. The electronic speed control system allows you to select the optimal speed. Using additional adapters and nozzles (which are not included), the Makita HR1840 rotary hammer can be used as a screwdriver or wrench. Thanks to the SDS-plus keyless chuck, it is possible to change the drill for a drill or a drill bit holder in a few seconds with one movement.

User protection

The rotary hammer is equipped with a torque limiter. In the event of jamming of the drill or crown, the release clutch is activated. It instantly disengages the gears of the gear train. The torque limiter protects the tool mechanism from damage and the user from kickback.

The classic pistol grip has rubber grips. They partially absorb fluctuations and vibration effects that occur during operation. This allows vibration to be reduced to an acceptable level (less than 10 m/s²). But the Makita HR1840 rotary hammer does not have a built-in vibration protection system in the form of an active damper.

Extended capabilities

The Makita HR1840 is supplied complete with a limit stop and an additional handle. Adjustable handle can be mounted left, right, bottom or top — in any position required for comfortable operation.

A spring-loaded dust collector, which would be useful for indoor work, is not included. But, thanks to the large range of accessories for Makita appliances, it can be bought separately.

Makita HR1840 is suitable not only for home craftsmen. It will also come in handy for masons, electricians, assemblers — anyone who uses small hammers or impact drills to drill holes in various structural materials. But if you often work in poor lighting, then it is better to pay attention to the Makita HR1841F model, similar in size and characteristics. It is more expensive, but it has LED work area lighting and a built-in active damper.
