Waterproof case with rubberized pad. Wet cleaning. Self-sharpening knife with DualCut blades. 10 additional interchangeable nozzles.

The Philips all-round trimmer represents mid-range solutions. The model is suitable for cutting hair on the head, face and/or body, as 10 attachments are included in the package, plus the DualCut cutting unit with self-sharpening blades can be used without them. For example, separate trimmers are offered for the nose and auricles, as well as creating the correct contours of the goatee beard.

Another multifunctional machine Philips Series 5000 MG5730 is equipped with a set of 7 combs — one universal (length adjustable from 3 to 7 mm) and 6 fixed (for stubble and hair on the head). With the help of the latter, you can get a length of 1, 2, 3, 9, 12 or 16 mm. And the role of another nozzle is assigned to the mesh razor, which is suitable for trimming the contours of the beard on the neck, chin and cheeks. The device is powered by a rechargeable Ni-MH battery that provides up to 80 minutes of battery life. However when discharged, it will take 16 hours to replenish the battery capacity. Other features of the model include a waterproof housing that allows wet cleaning, as well as the presence of a fabric cover for storing the machine and complete accessories.

If you don’t shave everywhere, self-sharpening and the minimum length of the bristles are critical - take
18 May 2018
Background:
I wear a beard without a mustache, and I used to use the Philips RQ 1175 with its detachable trimmer. It was enough for my needs; whenever I needed to shorten my beard, I also used a comb. Overall, it was more or less okay. The shaver was inexpensive and provided a shave, plus it could be used in the shower. But. It fell, and the trimmer got messed up. I was left with the rotary head, which I only use for shaving my mustache and small areas near the edges. Since the shaving heads are large, it was hard to aim. In short, after it fell, I had to buy a new one.
I chose based on the following criteria: quiet operation; a design closer to a hair clipper than a shaver, without compromises; self-sharpening blades; adjustable lengths in a wide range to trim the beard without a comb and do what Philips tactfully refers to on their site as "body grooming"; and a small minimum cutting length, so that after cutting to zero, there’s a small stubble left that can be easily handled by the rotary machine. I often faced this issue with my old machine.
In the end, I got this one. The girl at the store said there’s a Braun model with the same features but cheaper, but I preferred this one because the reviews satisfied me, plus the blades self-sharpen (after buying, I checked the mechanism; all the shaving units really are sharpened during use). In short, it's not the cheapest option with such functionality, but I couldn't find a better one with self-sharpening blades.

It can definitely be used as the sole device, but with caveats, of course, if you shave like I do, for instance.
- Quiet operation, you can comfortably shave behind the ears, sounds really decent.
- Self-sharpening blades, it's nice that after a couple of years you won't have to get a new one because of dull blades.
- Ergonomics and appearance, rubberized body, gray metallic plastic.
- 4-year manufacturer warranty, haven't read yet what they're responsible for, but they sure might let you know.
- Minimum cutting length of about 0.5mm, any razor can easily handle it after the trimmer, which was crucial for me.
- Lots of attachments: for different beard lengths, stubble, even for a clean shave, and for "body shaving," if you know what I mean ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°). You can also trim nose hair, but only at the entrance, so to speak, otherwise, they might prick.
- Water-resistant, as long as you don’t fully submerge it, obviously. But you can rinse the attachments after use; there's guidance in the manual on how best to do this.
- Bought it for 3500 at Eldorado, couldn't find it cheaper, and it was in stock, which is a plus. If there were cheaper options, I would have ordered even from Moscow, but there weren't any.
In 2018, 16 hours of charging for 80 minutes of operation? Are you serious? Maybe it's a technological solution for a long-lasting battery, but damn, that's harsh. There are Li-ion, Li-po batteries, there are already fast charging technologies. They probably still use Ni-Mh to this day) Even an old shaver has 1-hour charging and 50 minutes of operation! It's just childish, really. Probably a factor to lure into 9000 models. And the lack of a 5mm body attachment too)

It's not critical for me, honestly, even with the old shaver, where a 50-minute charge could last me a few weeks, because I didn't shave to zero every morning but mostly trimmed my beard, this will last even longer. And charging for 16 hours isn't a big deal. I put it on charge in the morning, took it off before sleep in the evening.

There's also no battery charge indicator. That's really annoying. Is it really such a difficult task to integrate 2 LEDs into the plastic? Artificial inconvenience. Like in the 20th century, determining the discharge by the rotor speed. Or when it stops. Bread.

As a carrying case - a crappy shameful bag, like a vacuum cleaner dust bag. The old one had a tailored case with a zipper. This product seems better, but the case is worse. I would pay an extra 200 rubles for a case.

In short, these aren't drawbacks, they're artificial inconveniences so you'd buy a higher-end model. I chose the inconveniences for myself, though this model isn't the youngest.

Very convenient trimmer. I use it for trimming my beard.
A large number of attachments, especially like the narrow nozzle. Works quickly and clearly.
Charges for a long time. The "silver brush" that is supposed to shave to zero does not do so. A bit inconvenient to clean.

Universal "combine" for cutting and shaving

The Philips Series 5000 MG5730 Multifunctional All-Purpose Trimmer is a real "combine" for trimming, beard trimming and full body shaving. The Series 5000 cordless cordless clipper is designed for comprehensive stubble and hair care wherever they grow. The device does an excellent job of modeling short haircuts and different types of beards (goatee, short and long, as well as 3-day stubble), guaranteeing clear contours and careful attention to detail. The elegant grey plastic case is equipped with a raised rubber grip that prevents the device from slipping out of wet hands. On the front panel there is a power switch, and at the bottom there is a 2-pin connector for the charging cable. The complete power supply has a built-in transformer that converts the mains voltage of 100 – 230 V to a safe value of less than 24 V. Unfortunately, a good battery life of 80 minutes is slightly overshadowed by a long Ni-MH battery charge of 16 hours.

Self-sharpening knife with DualCut blades

The main clipper attachment is a full-size hair trimmer with a stainless steel blade with DualCut self-sharpening blades. This technology provides better hair cutting precision and longer blade life. In addition to the main tool, the machine received 10 more versatile special-purpose nozzles. The narrow precision trimmer is designed to define the contours of the mustache, beard and temples, while the rotary nozzle is used to remove hair in the nose and ears. A foil razor is used to remove unwanted hair on the cheeks and chin. For the formation of the residual length of the hair, 6 fixed combs (maximum cutting length 16 mm) and an adjustable nozzle 3 – 7 mm are responsible. Despite the waterproof case, the device cannot be used under the shower: it is only allowed to rinse the removable nozzles under the tap. The multigroomer comes with a 2-year factory warranty.
