How to Choose a Hard DriveUnderstanding how to choose the right HDD for gaming, video recording, server, and other tasks
Model overview based on user reviews
The Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 is a popular choice for those seeking an affordable and efficient hard drive. Users appreciate its quiet operation and low heat generation, even under heavy use. The drive boasts good performance with technologies like OptiCache and AcuTrac enhancing its speed and reliability. However, some users have reported issues with reliability over time, with drives failing after a year or more, leading to data loss concerns. Despite this, many find it a cost-effective solution for general storage needs, though some recommend considering alternatives for critical data storage due to potential reliability issues. Overall, it offers good value for its price, especially for non-critical applications.

The mb model is almost the same for me, but with proper use it works for a long time

An interesting situation) I am a student of the Faculty of Cybernetics, currently doing an assignment on "Computer Architecture" remotely to describe my HDD, I'm searching for information on the internet and stumbled upon here. My old companion has been working for 7 YEARS and it's doing fine. Not even any bad sectors) I just couldn't resist writing a review. I attached a photo to the comment, maybe I have a slightly different model, but the manufacturer is more than respectable, as are the drives.

It broke down after a year, burying all the stored data.

Fortunately, at the time of the breakdown, there weren't any particularly valuable files on the disk. I specifically bought a 2TB model to store all sorts of things on it. Movies and music from the internet. It's a bummer, of course, but nothing disastrous, everything can be restored without any problems. That is, just download it again, it will take a couple of weeks at most. However, the next disk I buy will be from a different manufacturer. And to think, I had so many Seagates before this one, and there were never any problems, they served for 3-4 years, fully lasting their expected lifetimes.
Quiet, no strong vibrations while operating. Moreover, probably one of the quietest discs I've ever encountered in my life. And I've encountered quite a few. Good performance. Even after a hard day's work, it didn't heat up significantly.
Stopped working completely after a year of use. It just stopped working one day out of the blue. My friend had the same problem, and his lasted about ten months, no more.

great model, love it

When my home, pretty old, personal computer broke down, the technician advised replacing only the hard drive for its further long-term use. He recommended the Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 model, which I immediately purchased. At that time, I was surprised by the budget-friendly price of this component.

After installing and transferring all files to this drive from the old one, everything started working as before, even faster. The only thing is when the computer reads large files from external storage, specifically files created using AutoCAD, the drive starts to click and make noise slightly, which wasn't the case with the old native drive. This does not affect performance and speed. Also, what amazed and slightly surprised me is that despite this light noise, the unit itself does not heat up, which is very rare even for super-powerful systems designed to work in AutoCAD and similar graphic programs. But I cannot say how it will behave if the system is used constantly for creating graphic files, as I create on another computer, and on the personal one I can only save and make minor adjustments.

Also, it behaves positively when playing installed games and watching HD movies.

Therefore, I recommend saving money and buying this drive to everyone. In this case, quality far exceeds the price.
Price and hassle-free
Sometimes it makes noise
Elena:  i recommend it should buy
