The Japanese concern Yamaha is widely known not only for the fact that it produces motorcycles, synthesizers and guitars. No less worthy place in its assortment is occupied by acoustic systems. For almost 8 years, the NS-IC800 built-in model has not lost popularity among users due to a good balance of quality and cost (about $200).

Elegance in everything

Scrupulous Japanese, as always, thought through everything to the smallest detail. A system of two round speakers with a diameter of just under 30 cm each looks practical and aesthetically pleasing.

The paintable white fabric grille is easy to attach with magnets, the back sealed cover reliably protects the driver from debris and dust, and the thin profile makes the speaker practically not protruding above the surface. The large clip with non-slip sole for a secure grip makes mounting products easy even for the amateur.

Maximum in Japanese

The system works quite confidently over the entire frequency range of 50 Hz — 28 kHz. At the same time, the sound does not fall into a mess even at the maximum volume. The moisture-resistant 8-inch woofer with a blue propylene cone handles the low end quite well. The bass sounds tight and clear, and the transition to the middle does not create a dip. The tweeter, despite its modest size — only one inch — due to the soft dome and liquid cooling provides a fairly accurate positioning of the sound in the upper range.

It is worth noting that liquid cooling not only eliminates possible vibrations, but also significantly extends the life of the speaker, and the acoustic screen with perforations with a spiral pattern significantly improves sound dispersion for the most natural listening experience.

For all its merits, the Yamaha NS-IC800 definitely deserves attention. The only drawback that can affect the purchase decision is, perhaps, the lack of a square grill for this model — for those who prefer straight lines in the interior.
