It relies on the airflow’s tendency to stick to a surface: the jet “flows around” the cylinder and gently captures the strand, wrapping it without extreme heat. A straight barrel provides a uniform diameter along the entire length, producing defined curls or large waves with the same density from root to tip; it’s convenient for symmetrical styles where shape consistency matters. Compared to a classic curling iron, Coanda attachments grab a strand faster, reduce the risk of overheating and frizz, and work best when you pre-dry to about 80% and set with a cool shot.
