Protective glasses

Glasses

— like any other glasses, these products primarily cover the eyes. Glasses can be used as protection against bright light or specific radiation (such as ultraviolet), as a barrier against dirt, dust and foreign objects, or both.

(Separately, we note that it is impossible to use "ordinary" goggles for working with electric welding — the brightness of the arc and the intensity of UV radiation from it are very high, so you can only work in special welding goggles or a mask).

In this case, the specific design may be different, in particular:

— "Classic", similar in shape and design to sports-style sunglasses. Although these goggles can fit snugly to the face, they still do not provide 100% protection from dust and other contaminants. On the other hand, many of these products look quite stylish and can be used not only for their main purpose, but also as an accessory for everyday wear.

— "Canned", glasses with separate lenses in a soft frame that fits snugly to the eyes. In traditional canned food, the lenses are round, of the simplest design; a more perfect option — glasses, each half of which is supplemented with a side "window" to expand the field of view. Such a design, on the one hand, is considered outdated and can significantly limit the field of view; on the other hand, it is quite effective and provides eye protection from dust. In addition, "canned food" has a peculiar appearance and can be useful for non-standard purposes — for example, as an element of a pilot's or motorist's suit in the "retro" style.

— "Masks" — glasses with a common glass for both eyes. Relatively simple and inexpensive varieties have flat glass and frames made from the same material (usually clear plastic). In more advanced models, the glass is rounded, roughly following the outline of the front of the head, and the frame has soft pads for a tighter and more secure fit to the face. Anyway, such products are closed and quite reliably cover the eyes from dust.

It is worth noting that safety glasses usually do not have diopters. Therefore, those who wear corrective glasses (with diopters) will either have to switch to contact lenses to use the protection, or find a product that is compatible with regular glasses.
