Aquarium sealants
Aquarium
— a specialized type of sealant, usually silicone (see the relevant paragraph), designed to seal joints in aquariums and other areas in constant contact with water. In addition to moisture resistance, they are distinguished by high elasticity and tensile strength, as well as chemical neutrality — after drying, they do not release any substances into the water, do not harm the inhabitants of the aquarium, and therefore can be used both outside and inside the container.Like all silicone sealants, aquarium formulations are divided into acidic and neutral. The former are relatively inexpensive, but are not suitable for marble and concrete surfaces, since the latter can react with the acetic acid contained in the composition. In addition, such compositions should dry in well-ventilated areas. Neutral sealants are more expensive, but do not have such restrictions on use.
