They normally tolerate fairly high and low temperatures (for example, the range from -30 °C to 60 °C is claimed for many compositions), are resistant to moisture, elastic, reliable and durable, and therefore can be used for both indoor and outdoor work. . Such a sealant is not amenable to staining, therefore, by itself, it is available in different colours; so when using it, you will either have to select the composition by colour, or put up with the fact that it will stand out against the surrounding background. Also note that silicone compounds cannot be applied in layers — a new layer simply will not hold on to an already cured sealant.There are two types of silicone sealants — acidic and neutral. The former contain acetic acid, so it is undesirable to use them on metal surfaces and cement; the latter are more universal and do not have such restrictions.
