AMD Zen2 Renoir (4th Gen)
— the second in a row (after Matisse) family of processors from AMD, built on the Zen2 microarchitecture — and the first fully related to the 4th generation.Recall that Zen2 is notable primarily for reducing the process technology from 12 nm to 7 nm, as well as the possibility of using 2 chiplets (individual blocks for several cores each) per 1 I / O chip. The first provides a decrease in TDP and a general increase in performance, the second facilitates the creation of multi-core chips. Specifically, the Renoir family is positioned mainly as relatively inexpensive solutions with a good balance of overall computing power and graphics capabilities. It is worth noting here that the number of computing units in the integrated GFX9 (Vega) graphics core was reduced compared to its predecessor — however, this was offset by an increase in the GPU clock frequency. And support for 20 PCI-E lanes allows desktop processors from this series to fully work with powerful external video cards using a PCI-E 16x connection.
