Open case

— this category includes cases designed to ensure that the “hardware” in them is as open as possible to both the eyes and air. Thus, such cases perform not only an aesthetic, but also a very practical function — they increase the cooling efficiency. On the other hand, system components in an open case are highly susceptible to contamination, such a computer must be cleaned frequently from dust.

One of the most popular options for an open case is a Tower of one type or another (see "Form Factor"), which has only side walls, and one of them is often also made transparent. There are other, more unusual versions.
