By itself, USB is the most popular modern interface for connecting external peripherals. And the location of the connector on the front panel makes it much easier to connect: getting to such a port is easier than reaching for the socket on the back of the case. As for the USB 2.0 standard, it is generally considered obsolete, because it provides a relatively low data transfer rate and power supply. Nevertheless, this interface does not lose popularity: its capabilities are quite sufficient for many peripheral devices, USB 2.0 support is inexpensive, and peripherals of newer standards can be connected to such connectors — the main thing is that the connector mechanically matches and there is enough power.
