8-way D-pad

And the 8-position version is more advanced than the classic 4-position one: 4 standard positions (for moving right, left, up and down) in such a manipulator are supplemented by 4 intermediate positions for diagonal rooms. Thus, to move diagonally, you do not need to hold down two buttons at once (which can be inconvenient, if not always available) — just select the standard position on the D-Pad. On the other hand, such functionality is not required so often, while it complicates the design and affects the cost. Therefore, there are relatively few controllers with an 8-position D-Pad nowadays.
