Wi-Fi equipment with built-in storage
Built-in storage
— the Wi-Fi device has its own built-in storage. In this case, a drive means a certain amount of permanent memory that is not occupied by the firmware and is available to the user; simply put, this feature allows you to store various files directly on the device. This feature is not required for the main purpose, but it greatly simplifies the use of additional functions. For example, the built-in storage may contain the contents of an FTP or web server, files received through a torrent client (see "Software Features"), and other data; and some adapters with such equipment (see "Device") can even be used as flash drives. On the other hand, this feature significantly affects the cost of equipment, and in many cases it is more reasonable (and cheaper) to use other devices for storing files — NAS network storage, separate network computers, or even external media like flash drives. So among Wi-Fi equipment, models with built-in memory are extremely rare — usually these are solutions with specific functionality related to the professional level.
