3G modem (USB)
— connection via a third-generation mobile phone modem connected to the router via a USB port. Note that the term "3G" may refer to two different mobile communication standards. Most often we are talking about UMTS technology — it is the development of 2nd generation GSM networks and, depending on the supported technologies, can provide speeds up to 70 Mbps (although the actual figures are usually lower). At the same time, some routers are also capable of working with EV-DO modems — this is a data transfer standard in less popular CDMA networks, with a maximum speed of up to 14.7 Mbps. Specific supported 3G standards and technologies should be specified separately. Anyway, such a connection provides independence from wired networks, it can be indispensable in the absence of a fixed Internet connection — for example, in the private sector. However, note that the mobile modem itself is usually not included in the package.3G via USB modem | clear | Save List |
