Lens (refractors)

— telescopes with a lens (or lens system) are noticeably more expensive than refractors due to the complexity of manufacturing, and the lenses themselves are relatively small — otherwise the design would be unreasonably expensive and complicated. In addition, lenses are prone to colour distortion (chromatic aberration); to eliminate this drawback, many models use various tricks, but they further increase the price. On the other hand, refractors are not as sensitive to shock and shock as telescopes with mirrors, and they are much easier to handle; the latter is quite important for beginners in astronomy. From the point of view of specialization, lens models are considered suitable primarily for observations of planets and other objects in the near space.
