Such a fixture is usually a standard "T-mount" threaded connection. Modern interchangeable lens cameras are compatible with this mount via adapters; and some older devices, originally equipped with a T-mount, can be installed without additional adapters. Anyway, if you plan to seriously engage in astrophotography, then the best choice, most likely, will be a telescope with a camera mount. An alternative option is models with an adapter for a smartphone; however, smartphones, even with advanced cameras, are still inferior to full-fledged cameras in terms of picture quality.

We also recall that astrophotography often involves long exposures, and for such conditions, the best option would be an equatorial mount system (see "Mounting").
