Flashes with power control
Power management
— the ability to manually adjust the power of the light output emitted by the flash (with a constant pulse duration). Power control is present in most modern models, allowing you to set optimal shooting parameters to avoid "overexposing" the frame. In the specifications of models with power control, the levels to which it can be set are usually indicated. Traditionally, each subsequent (in descending order) level corresponds to half the power of the previous one, and they are denoted by fractional numbers: 1/1 (full power), 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, etc. The features of flash power control depending on shooting parameters are described in detail in specialized sources, but in any case, the more adjustment levels there are, the more opportunities there are to set optimal parameters. This is especially true for shooting at short distances, where the risk of excessive "overexposure" increases.
