3G modems with Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n)

— the presence of Wi-Fi allows to use the modem to "distribute" the Internet to other Wi-Fi devices nearby – for example, tablets or laptops. Such a connection not only does not require wires, but is also capable of working through walls (with a noticeable decrease in range, but nonetheless). For more information about its features, see "Wi-Fi modem"; here we note that the communication range in different models can vary markedly, which should be taken into account when choosing.

The Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n) standard differs from older versions in supporting MIMO technology (distributing input and output across multiple antennas). It was introduced in 2009. The main operating frequency is 2.4 GHz, however, there are devices supplemented with a 5 GHz band.
