— fourth generation communication today usually means two standards — WiMAX and LTE. The first technology historically appeared earlier, but it is gradually being replaced by LTE as a more advanced and easy-to-implement standard — in particular, LTE networks can be deployed based on existing GSM, UMTS or CDMA2000 stations, while WiMAX uses its own equipment. Note that both technologies in terms of specs are somewhat “not up to” the initial requirements for 4G — nevertheless, they significantly exceed the standards of the third generation. Therefore, in the end, the requirements were lowered, which made it possible to use the 4G marking. LTE networks are currently quite common in the world, but in some countries their implementation has just begun, in others it is only expected in the future. It is also worth remembering that LTE uses several bands and channels, and the specs of a 4G network may not match the parameters of equipment released for another country.
