— the built-in low-pass filter (aka Roll-off) allows you to "cut off" a certain range of low frequencies, in which the greatest amount of external interference occurs — noise from the wind and breathing of the speaker, blows to the microphone itself, etc. This somewhat affects the accuracy of sound transmission, however, Roll-off, usually, is used in such categories of microphones for which this accuracy is not initially a priority. Also, a low-pass filter can be used to control the “approach effect” — an increase in the volume of low frequencies when approaching a sound source: turning the low-pass filter on or off at the right moments can enhance, or vice versa, smooth out this effect. The filter can be either preinstalled or custom.Show
