They are able to detect objects under a layer of soil several metres, but the positioning accuracy is low, it is impossible to recognize the type of metal, and small objects are invisible to RF technology. A distinctive feature of such metal detectors is the presence of two coils (usually rectangular), separated by a noticeable distance and located perpendicular to each other.
