— guides include various devices that limit the movement of the working part of the tool and do not allow it to deviate from the required position or trajectory of movement.

Similar devices can be designed for different types of tools. In particular, saw guides are very popular nowadays: such an accessory is placed along the sawing line and provides an accurate and accurate cut. Another common option is products for centering diamond core bits when drilling. Such a device is a special frame with a square opening and a mount for installation on the surface to be treated. The frame opening is adjusted in such a way that its size clearly corresponds to the diameter of the crown, after which the guide is set so that the centre of the opening coincides with the centre of the future hole. Thus, the frame clearly fixes the bit in one place, preventing it from “driving” in different directions at the initial stages of drilling and providing a clear and accurate penetration into the material. There are other types of guides — for example, structures for vertical drilling (a simplified analogue of a drill stand that is mounted / installed directly on the surface to be treated).

Note that guides can be both universal and created for a specific tool model. This point should be clarified separately.
