Solder

— one of the consumables used in soldering is along with flux / rosin (see the relevant paragraph). More precisely, solder is the main “consumable” for such work, it is he who is responsible for the direct connection of the parts to each other.

The principle of operation of all such compositions is the same: molten solder adheres tightly to the parts, fills the gap between them and, when solidified, creates a strong connection. But the composition and specialization of such "consumables" may be different. The most well-known option is solder in the form of a low-melting alloy based on lead and/or tin, used for soldering metal parts (including hand soldering). Such solder can have various additives that change its properties — for example, to increase or decrease the melting point, for additional corrosion resistance, etc. The most popular form of production of such materials is in the form of a thin wire wound into a coil; this allows precise dosing of the alloy and also makes it easier to use with impulse soldering guns. And some formulations immediately include rosin or other flux, so working with them does not require the use of separate fluxes.

There are also more specific types of solders — for example, based on oxides, for joining between metals and non-metals. The same applies to the form of release: for example, in jewelry, solder is used in the form of thin sheets, in plumbing — in the form of rods, and in the industrial production of printed circuit boards — compositions in the form of pastes, powders and suspensions. Detailed recommendations regarding the choice of solder for a particular type of soldering can be found in special sources.

The Draper Solder Sucker is a precision desoldering tool designed for the efficient removal of surplus molten solder during electronic repair and assembly work. This manually operated vacuum tool features an aluminium body construction that provides durability whilst remaining lightweight for extended use. Ideal for electronics technicians, electricians and hobbyists working on circuit board repairs, this solder sucker operates with a simple spring-loaded mechanism. When the button is pressed, the vacuum action draws molten solder into the barrel, allowing for clean removal from joints and components. The aluminium construction ensures the tool can withstand regular workshop use whilst dissipating …
