Often, in addition to the main chopping element, such axes are equipped with additional multi-tool chips: a sharp lance or pick, a wrench, a sling cutter, a crowbar, etc. The main advantage of most models is a one-piece forged construction with plastic overlays on the handles, or paracord winding, making these hatchets perfect as a throwing projectile. The form factor of these axes is borrowed from the famous Indian tomahawks, and manufacturers often even use this term in the name of their models.
