— tools used, as the name suggests, mainly for cutting glass; however, most of these tools can be used with other similar materials, in particular, ceramic tiles.

The working part of the glass cutter is made of a material with high hardness, which, when moving along the glass, leaves a scratch on its surface. Then the glass is broken in a special way (manually or with the help of a breaker on the glass cutter itself), and with due observance of the procedure, the break passes exactly along the line of the scratch. Moreover, such a line does not have to be straight — curly cutting is also quite acceptable.

Nowadays, glass cutters of a roller design are most popular — in them, the working element has the form of a roller with a hard edge made of hard alloy. Such an element in most models is made removable and can be replaced when worn; and some tools have a built-in "carousel" with a set of several spare rollers. Roller tools are quite functional and at the same time easy to use, they are available even to novice users. A more advanced variety is diamond glass cutters, which use technical diamond to scratch. Such devices provide higher accuracy and accuracy, but require a specific skill and are designed primarily for professionals.
