Smartwatches with Android

— various editions of the Android mobile OS, specially designed for wearable gadgets — with the exception of Wear OS (Android Wear), which has its own specifics and is therefore included in a separate paragraph.

The open source Android code makes it easy to create editions even for wearable devices with small screens and simple hardware. However only a very few native applications of this OS are able to work properly on such devices; but some developers (including the manufacturers of wearable gadgets themselves) also release specialized software for Android smartwatches.

Also note that the standard versions of Android are noticeably inferior to Android Wear in terms of functionality and level of interface optimization. On the other hand, the system requirements for such firmware are noticeably lower, which allows them to be used even in relatively inexpensive and affordable gadgets.
