The model is notable for its durable aluminum body with basic water resistance conforming to the IPX4 standard. The utilized diode provides a luminous flux of up to 900 lm, ensuring good road visibility even away from well-lit urban streets.

It also features the proprietary OptiCube lens with wide diffusion and improved side visibility. The CATEYE AMPP900 bike light supports 5 operating modes, including various brightness settings (besides the maximum of 200 and 400 lm), a special cycle for daytime operation called Daytime HyperConstant, and flashing modes. Other features include a memory function for the last active settings, and the ability to activate maximum light output with a double press of the power button.
