Portable games

The WD Black P10 is a series of external hard drives aimed at both desktop and laptop gamers and console gamers. Consists of two sub-series: P10 Game Drive with all black colour and 2, 4 or 5 TB capacity, as well as P10 Game Drive for Xbox One with black and white coloring (branded colours of the Xbox One console) and capacity of 1, 3 or 5 TB.

Cooling and vibration absorption

The WD Black P10's chassis is made from aluminium for a sleeker look and better heat dissipation during long gaming sessions. On the underside of the disc are four soft rubber feet that absorb vibration. But older volumes (3 TB and more) are based on multi-platter HDDs of double thickness (15 mm), and in a plastic case without legs, theoretically, they could noticeably heat up or vibrate loudly. Fortunately, there are no such problems.

Fast and roomy

The connection interface for the WD Black P10 is USB 3.2 Gen 1, better known as USB 3.0. However, for an external hard drive, unlike an external SSD, more is not required. The bundled cable has a full-sized USB Type-A plug on one end, and a compact USB Micro-B plug on the other. All this together allows you to develop sequential read and write speeds (for HDDs, these figures are always identical) up to 130 MB / s. This is enough not only to store personal files (photos, music, videos) on the disk, but also to launch games directly from it, without transferring them to the internal drive of the PC or console each time.

Collection of games as a gift

The WD P10 Game Drive for Xbox One comes with a code for two months of access to the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate gaming service, which combines a free collection of over a hundred Game Pass games (for PC and console) and access to Xbox Live Gold multiplayer servers ( relevant only on the console). If you prefer less capacious, but faster external SSDs, then WD also has them in its assortment: for example, the inexpensive My Passport Go and the rugged Extreme E60.
