Bat-tank
If Batman suddenly walked into an electronics store with his BatCredit, he would come back with a nice box from A-Data containing an external HDD DashDrive Durable. And there are 2 reasons for this. The first is its solid appearance, which is somewhat reminiscent of that tank from The Dark Knight. The bristling black (there are other colors) box seems to have been born to fight any adversity and meets them with a grin.
Shockproof body is not afraid of falling and drowning
The second reason is a serious layer of armor. Serious, even by the standards of shock-resistant hard drives. The protective casing consists of three parts: a durable outer bumper made of silicone, inside of which is hidden a shock-absorbing frame that absorbs shock and vibration, and underneath the last line of defense in the form of a durable plastic case that tenaciously holds the hard drive. As a result, the case was tested according to the military standard MIL-STD-810 and received an IPX7 certificate, that is, it is not afraid of drops from a meter height (A Data says that the drive withstood 26 drops from a height of 122 cm) and can withstand short immersion in water up to a meter depth. The main thing is not to forget to close the ports with rubber plugs. Well, in general, it’s not worth specially subjecting the miniature mechanics of a hard drive to such torture.
130 MB/s sequential read
Judging by the Crystaldiskmark benchmark data, a 4-terabyte HDD from Seagate (formerly Toshiba) with a speed of 5400 rpm and a cache of 128 MB is hidden inside the case. In synthetic tests, the drive shows an average sequential read speed of 130 MB/s and sequential write speed of 123.7 MB/s. There is nothing unusual here; these are close to the maximum figures for a HDD with a third-generation USB connection. Speaking of USB. Like many protected “external devices,” the case has a special mount for the cable. On the one hand, this is convenient, since it is always at hand, on the other hand, the cable is short and it is not very convenient to connect it to a computer that is located somewhere under the table.
