Not boring disk
The Seagate Expansion Portable is hidden in a patterned protective casing made of dark plastic. The relief surface gives the original appearance; this is not just a three-dimensional pattern, as you might think at first glance, there really is a relief in the form of small, repeating pyramids. Four rubber feet are glued to the bottom edge to reduce vibration. Despite its discreet appearance, the disk behaves quite violently during operation - it makes noise, heats up under prolonged load and vibrates, even when standing on rubber feet. And while heating up to 46 degrees Celsius during prolonged use is quite normal, the level of noise emitted seems quite high.

However, this drawback is compensated for by the Seagate Dashboard software suite, which is already installed on the disk. That is, there is no need to download or install anything. In terms of design, ease of use, and functionality, Dashboard leaves behind most software from other manufacturers. In addition to standard utilities for archiving, backup and data protection, you can configure time windows to automatically create backups, and then additionally send these copies to the cloud storage provided by the company. Plus, Seagate Dashboard has a mobile application that can backup system data from smartphones and tablets.
As for the disk itself, it is a completely standard laptop HDD from Segate with a capacity of 4 TB, an average read speed of 116.9 MB/s and an average write speed of 111.7 MB/s.
