Model overview based on user reviews
The AMD Ryzen 3 Matisse series, including models like the 3100 and 3300X, offers impressive performance for its price range, making it a strong contender in the budget segment. Users appreciate the high performance and overclocking capabilities, with the 3300X delivering power comparable to higher-end models like the 3600 but at a lower cost. However, some users note that the stock cooler struggles with heat, especially under heavy loads, suggesting the need for a better cooling solution. The 3100 model is praised for its cool operation and 16 MB cache, although it operates at its limits in modern games without overclocking. Despite occasional issues like defective cores, the processors are generally well-received for their value and performance, making them a popular choice for gaming and multitasking on a budget.

great model, really liked it.

Great CPU. Built a new system but with the old GPU for now. FPS increase by 1.3-1.5 times. Motherboard B450M, RAM 3200. Hope it lasts a long time. According to tests, it can handle a 2080TI. Should I save up for it or a new RX?
Performance, large cache, multithreading, good memory management.
I only found the BOX version available. You're basically overpaying for a terrible box cooler. It buzzes loudly, and because of the dynamic speeds, it sounds just awful. I can hear it through headphones. The PSU, graphics card, fans - even under load, they quietly whir. But this cooler yells for everyone. Its only plus is that it cools the processor well, not heating above 65 degrees.

worth its price, although it's slightly overpriced.

choose a well-ventilated case.
Pulls everything off with flying colors, some say it's too hot, I overcame this by installing it in a well-ventilated case, 1 120mm fan for intake, 3 for exhaust. On the stock cooler, it runs at 40-45 degrees in applications, 60-65 degrees in games, which is quite acceptable.

good model for its price) but the prospects for 4/8 are limited, however, if you get a good motherboard, an upgrade to 3600/4600 is guaranteed

in the most demanding projects, there may be a shortage of cores/threads in a couple of years, temperatures (using Gammaxx GT for cooling, the temperatures are pleasing but could be better)

Big Brother

The AMD Ryzen 3 3300X is the older of the two Matisse "brothers" with four cores and eight threads. Unlike the younger Ryzen 3 3100 with two CCX modules, the 3300X has a grouped arrangement of cores in a single CCX. This contributes to a faster exchange of information both between the cores and with the IOD module (northbridge).

Overclocked at the factory

In addition, the Ryzen 3 3300X operates at a higher frequency out of the box: 3.8 – 4.3 GHz versus 3.6 – 3.9 GHz for the 3100 model. The difference in frequency, however, is not difficult to level out by manual overclocking, since the multiplier for both processors is unlocked. But thanks to the single CCX, the non-overclocked 3300X still outperforms the overclocked 3100 in gaming.

seven nanometers

The progressive 7nm process technology has a positive effect on the heat dissipation of the Ryzen 3 3300X. If you do not need a completely silent PC, then you can save on buying a separate tower cooler and limit yourself to the bundled Wraith Stealth. In addition, the Ryzen 3 3300X, paired with the 3100, are the most affordable processors with support for the high-speed PCIe 4.0 bus. This makes it possible to take full advantage of the latest Radeon RX 5000 series graphics cards and SSDs at speeds up to 64Gbps.

For play and work

To sum it up, the AMD Ryzen 3 3300X is one of the nicest hardware surprises of 2020, with its modern high performance Zen 2 architecture per clock ahead of the more multi-core old Ryzen 5 2600 in games, though the latter is still very good in professional work applications. The only worthy competitor for the 3300X is perhaps its big brother Ryzen 5 3500 with six Zen 2 cores but no SMT multithreading. Some games prefer eight virtual threads, while others prefer six physical cores.
