Well-balanced, affordable and moderately powerful 6-core desktop processors from the Ryzen 5 Renoir-X family (Zen 2, 7nm microarchitecture). They have an AMD AM4 processor socket and are designed for installation in motherboards with 400 or 500 series chipsets. They are based on lightweight Ryzen 4000U mobile processors and therefore cannot show the same level of performance as Ryzen 5 desktop counterparts built using the more modern Zen 3 or Zen 3+ architecture.
Designed to work in tandem with DDR4 RAM in dual-channel mode with a maximum clock frequency of 3200 MHz. The manufacturer is positioned as models of the initial price category, designed for use as part of home PCs, multi-purpose office assemblies and entry-level gaming PCs. The Ryzen 5 4500 family is built around the 6 cores + 6 threads principle that AMD typically uses in higher-end Ryzen 5/7 processors.
In normal mode, the cores operate at a frequency of 3.6 GHz, if necessary, they can automatically overclock to 4.1 GHz. The presence of an unlocked multiplier implies the possibility of a small manual frequency overclocking. The third level cache is 8 MB. In general, in terms of performance, they are slightly superior to the 12th generation Core i3 chips and inferior to the Core i5 models. Low heat dissipation in the region of 65 W allows you to save on the cooling system - the stock cooler is enough for your eyes. Unlike the older Ryzen 5 models, there is no integrated Vega video core, so saving money on buying a discrete video card will not work.

a swan song
The AMD Ryzen 5 4500 is one of the latest socket AM4 processors, designed to temporarily compete in price with the Intel Core 12th Gen until the all-new Ryzen 7000 AM5 is released. It costs about $150, which is on par with the i3-12100F. At the same time, it has one and a half times more physical cores and virtual threads — 6/12 versus 4/8.
Do not waste good
In fact, the Ryzen 5 4500 is the same Ryzen 5 4600G on the Zen 2 architecture, only with the integrated graphics deactivated (most likely due to its marriage). This gives both certain disadvantages and advantages. The downsides are the relatively small 8 MB cache and the lack of support for the PCIe 4.0 bus. A plus is the ability to overclock DDR4 RAM in synchronous mode up to a frequency of 4400 MHz.
Quantity beats quality
In addition, the Ryzen 5 4500, like other APUs, does not have separate chiplets under the heat cover, but a single crystal, which contributes to uniform heat dissipation. In terms of performance per core, the AMD Zen 2 architecture is noticeably inferior to Intel Alder Lake, but in well-parallelized tasks, the number of thread cores still wins. The Ryzen 5 4500 has two brothers: the $100 4100 with a 4/8 core-thread configuration and the $200 5500 already on the more advanced Zen 3.
