Striking Appearance and Excellent Ergonomics

In 2017, Asus updated its flagship gaming mouse. Unlike the first generation ROG Gladius, the model received RGB lighting around the body contour. Various lighting effects are provided in addition to continuous operation: activation by click, smooth color change, various blinking scenarios. You can set your own option for each lighting zone (contour, wheel, and logo).

Gladius II features a plastic top and rubberized sides with a textured pattern. It fits comfortably in a medium-sized right hand, not slipping during the fast movements needed in games. The downside could be the tendency to gather grime, as both the plastic and gaps in the rubber easily "collect" dirt.

Extended Work Life

The "heart" of the Asus ROG Gladius II is the PixArt 3360 optical sensor with a resolution of up to 12000 DPI. It is precise and fast, impossible to disrupt, making it one of the best available on the market.

The model has 6 programmable buttons (not including the scroll wheel). Two main ones on the mouse "back" are complemented by a sensitivity switch button. On the left side, an additional button is added below the traditional pair, which by default allows you to temporarily lower the DPI. For example, in shooters, it enables more accurate aiming when shooting. Though, its positioning requires some getting used to.

In the ROG Armoury proprietary utility, you can reassign button functionality, adjust sensor speed, and set up different usage scenarios for three profiles.

The switches of the main keys are rated for a record 50 million clicks (product of Omron, model D2FC-F-K). Users can easily replace them without losing warranty. Under special caps on the bottom are screws, unscrewing which allows you to remove the board and install other switches. An additional pair with a life of 1 million clicks is already included in the package.

Convenient to Carry Around

A pleasant feature of the mouse is the detachable cable. Moreover, the kit includes two cords: a 2-meter one in fabric braid and a 1-meter rubberized one (for connecting to a laptop). Both are lightweight, flexible, and soft. Also, the basic package includes a small carrying case, which allows gamers not to part with their gaming "helper" when away from home.

Asus ROG Gladius II is a direct competitor to Logitech G403 Prodigy, featuring a more interesting appearance (thanks to the contour lighting) and the ability to quickly replace switches. And the need to pay extra for this seems entirely justified.
