In-ear monitoring from Audio-Technica

A few years ago, Japanese company Audio Technica released the long-awaited line of E-Series in-ear headphones to compete with Shure in the in-ear monitoring headphone market. The line consists of three models (E40, E50 and E70), which, in terms of comfort and sound, are suitable for both recording studios and live performances.

Top Armature Drivers

According to the first impressions, you really get the feeling that you are listening not to in-ear, but to overhead monitor headphones. Not without reason they are often compared with the popular mid-low-cost Audio-Technica ATH-M50x. They have almost the same wide and voluminous sound stage, verified localization of instruments and a slightly protruding top with a hump around 2 kHz. The sound of armature drivers is neutral, with a slight emphasis on readability in the middle and upper registers. For "basheads" low frequencies will not be enough. All in all, this is a traditional Audio-Technica sound, no surprises. Plus, the ATH-E50 is compatible with M2 and M3 proprietary wireless In-Ear monitoring systems.

Replaceable cable and comfortable earhook

The headphones come with a carrying case, a mini-jack to large-jack adapter and interchangeable silicone tips in various sizes (XS/S/M/L). An important feature is the use of a durable and detachable cable. It turned out to be long (1.6 m, people with a height of 190 cm or more will appreciate it), but it instantly solidifies in the cold, which is not very good. But the behind-the-ear fastening is just a fairy tale, if you choose the right nozzles, then they won’t be able to fall out on their own at all.
