Beats Solo 4 is the highly anticipated update to Beats' most compact wireless headphones, featuring improved sound, longer battery life, and new features like Instant Connect and spatial audio support.
More neutral sound than before
The sound profile of the new product has become more neutral, the emphasis on bass is less pronounced, and the bass itself sounds more controlled and less boomy. However, sometimes the low frequencies still lack clarity and articulation. Interestingly, the difference in sound between wired and wireless connections is almost imperceptible; there is a slight loss of clarity in the range of 15 - 20 kHz, but it can only be noticed when listening to well-mastered tracks in Lossless format.
Spatial Audio
Also worth noting is support for Spatial Audio, which provides dynamic head tracking and plays music and video with Dolby Atmos-encoded tracks. In addition, the Solo 4 supports two types of wired connections: via a standard audio cable with a mini-jack and via USB-C, while the Solo 3 did not have a USB connection.
Up to 50 hours of battery life
In addition, the battery life has increased. The manufacturer promises about 50 hours of operation on a single charge, but tests have shown that the headphones can work for more than 60 hours even with spatial sound turned on. This makes the Beats Solo 4 one of the most durable over-ear headphones of recent years, comparable to the Soundcore H30i and Marshall Major IV.
