The fifth edition of the iconic Marshall Major headphones features a recognizable "rock'n'roll" design. The model belongs to over-ear, closed-back headphones with a foldable structure. At the same time, it ensures a comfortable level of pressure without excessive force at the contact points with the head, as well as decent passive noise isolation. The Marshall Major V is equipped with 40mm dynamic drivers with a frequency range from 20 Hz to 20 kHz.

The headphones are suitable for listening to music of various genres. Moreover, the model boasts a reduction in harmonic distortion coefficient, which has led to improved sound quality. In the fifth generation, the headphones received support for AAC and LC3 codecs, and their wireless operation time was increased to 100 hours. In just 15 minutes, the model can be charged for 15 hours of subsequent standalone use. Headphones can be connected via Bluetooth v5.3 wireless protocol or using a detachable audio cable. Furthermore, a new feature in the model is the programmable M-button, which allows quick access to the Spotify streaming service, EQ changes, or activation of a voice assistant.

Stylish, great sound, and great battery life.
Very long battery life. Comfortable, foldable, and lightweight design. Also, you can listen wired through a 3.5 mm cable if the battery runs low.

The best headphones I've ever used
11 December 2025
Iconic headphones that I usually use for work and pair with the Nintendo Switch or PS5 for gaming. The device absolutely satisfies all possible parameters 100%. As it turned out, the power button works like a joystick (you can move it in different directions to change the volume or switch songs). Maybe someone like me will only notice this after a few days, now you'll know earlier :)
They look stylish
They feel reliable and don't come across as "cheap"
There's wireless charging
The sound quality suits me, but I'm not an audiophile
Holds a charge for a long time, charges quickly

good model, done well
29 September 2025
I’ve been using them for 5 months: the sound quality is excellent, I especially love the rich bass, and the design is stylish and eye-catching. The battery lasts a really long time, the headphones are reliable and sturdy, and the earpads don’t show any wear yet. A feature I underrated: the detachable cable, which saves the day when they run out of charge—you can quickly plug into a PC without Bluetooth, and the cable even adds a bit of style sometimes. The noise isolation surprised me: even without ANC, the earpads keep outside noise out almost completely.
Great sound and punchy bass, a stylish premium design, good noise isolation and long battery life, style, style, and more style, with the solid build of a truly high-quality product!
Over time they can start pressing on your ears during long use, and the headphones are also a bit small for a bigger head. I liked the design of the older JBL models more.

FAQ

Are the Marshall Major V suitable for travel on noisy public transport?

No, they are not very suitable for regular trips on noisy public transport: they do not have active noise cancellation. The ear cushions slightly muffle the surroundings, but voices, doors, and street noise remain audible. If you specifically need silence while traveling, you should choose a model with ANC. Source:Expert reviews

How long do the Marshall Major V actually last on a single charge?

In practice, almost 93 hours on a single charge, which is slightly less than the stated maximum. This is still plenty for trips and everyday listening, although the volume and equalizer settings affect the result. Fast charging provides up to 15 hours of music from 15 minutes of charging. Source:SpecificationsExpert reviews

Can you listen to the Marshall Major V if the battery has run out?

Yes, Major V support passive wired listening via a 3.5 mm jack. The detachable coiled audio cable is included and allows you to connect to a device with a suitable output. However, the cable does not automatically disconnect the active Bluetooth connection. Source:SpecificationsExpert reviews

Can the Marshall Major V be connected to a phone and a laptop simultaneously?

Yes, Multipoint allows you to maintain an active connection with two devices. For example, you can switch between music on your laptop and your phone without pairing again. For those who use the same headphones at home and at work, this makes everyday use noticeably easier. Source:SpecificationsExpert reviews

How do the Marshall Major V differ from the Major IV in practice?

The main difference between the Major V and Major IV is the app with an equalizer and M-button customization. The fifth version also features AAC and LC3 codecs with support for LE Audio and Auracast, whereas the Major IV listed support for SBC only. The most noticeable improvements are in personalization and wireless connectivity options. Source:Expert reviews

How do the Marshall Major V sound without equalizer adjustment?

Out of the box, the sound is bright and noticeably colored: the bass is tight, the treble is elevated, while the midrange recedes in places. The five-band equalizer in the app allows you to soften these accents, although changes are applied with a noticeable delay. Those looking for a neutral sound without any adjustments may find that the Major V are not the right choice. Source:Expert reviews

Is the built-in microphone of the Marshall Major V suitable for calls?

Yes, the built-in microphone is sufficient for regular calls. In a quiet environment, speech is loud and clear, while in office noise, the other person can still hear your voice well. Outdoors and in windy conditions, interference occurs, so it is better to hold important calls in a quiet room. Source:Expert reviews

Are the Marshall Major V suitable for active workouts?

No, the Major V are not the best choice for intense workouts. During sudden movements, the on-ear cups may shift, as confirmed by the experience of one of the owners. There is no IP rating, so sweat and rain may pose an additional risk. Source:User ReviewsExpert reviews

Is the Marshall Major V comfortable to wear for several hours at a time?

The fit is soft, but not universally comfortable for hours of wear. Several owners write that the on-ear cups begin to press on or fatigue the ears after about two hours, although others find the headphones comfortable even during long listening sessions. If your ears are sensitive to an on-ear design, it is advisable to try them on before purchasing. Source:User ReviewsExpert reviews

Version 2024

The new iteration of the iconic headphones is presented in the Marshall Major V model. The main improvements involve user-device interaction and overall battery life. Despite a slight weight increase to 186g, the headphones remain compact and comfortable for prolonged wear due to their thoughtful ergonomics. The sound retains the brand's signature balance and detail: 40mm dynamic drivers deliver tight, responsive bass, clear vocals, and distinct instrument separation across the entire frequency range. The acoustics offer studio-quality sound, allowing nuances of solo parts to shine through. The company has traditionally opted out of active noise cancellation, preserving a natural sound atmosphere but added more convenient controls. The model supports the proprietary app and Bluetooth 5.3, with data transmission through the LC3 (LE Audio) codec. This standard provides access to the Auracast technology, enabling sound-sharing with other devices. The multipoint function is also implemented, allowing simultaneous connection to two gadgets. For flexible use, a 3.5mm audio jack is provided, and a corresponding cable is included.

Personalization and Battery Life

The Marshall Major V impress with their battery life of up to 100 hours, making them a great companion even on long trips. Fast charging is supported—just 15 minutes connected to a socket provides up to 15 hours of listening. Charging is done via a USB-C port and is also compatible with wireless charging stations and power banks, adding convenience on the go. The signature joystick button is responsible for the main functions, while the programmable "M" key allows for quick activation of Spotify, the selected equalizer preset, or a voice assistant. The only downside might be the high price, but fans of Marshall's signature sound are unlikely to be deterred by this.
